Janine is a student at Pennbrook who became attracted to Cory after he became the school mascot, Pengy the Pennbrook Penguin. She invited him to come back to her dorm room, and Cory, trying to get even with Topanga, accepted. They later broke up, perhaps after Cory was fired from being the mascot for falling into the band and knocking over tubas.
