"New Friends and Old" is the thirteenth episode of season three of Boy Meets World, and the 58th episode overall. It first aired on January 19, 1996. The episode was written by Matthew Nelson and directed by John Tracy.
Plot
Following a stunt which resulting in Cory and Shawn in cheerleaders outfits, Joey is suspended and Frankie faces suspension as well. But Frankie's father promises that his son will be straightened out, and he's let off the hook. Frankie is angry, though, that his best friend got suspended. Cory and Shawn offer to be his friend if he doesn't beat them up, and he agrees.
But Frankie takes it too far. He is suddenly always following Cory and Shawn around. He eats lunch with them. He walks with them from school. He invites them to sleepovers. Cory and Shawn are afraid to tell him to leave them alone, but when they realize that all of the underclassmen are his servants because they're afraid, they begin to take advantage. Frankie notices this and feels bad, but wants to keep his friends. When all of the little kids send Cory and Shawn into a trap, Cory & Shawn realize that Frankie really is a good person, and begin treating him as such.
Meanwhile, an old flame from Turner's rich, Connecticut past, Melanie, comes back. He expects her to still be very rich and pretentious, but she actually took a similar route to Turner. Very surprised, Turner learns something about first impressions that translates to Shawn's issue with Frankie.
