State of the Unions
|Season 6, Episode 22|
May 14, 1999
When Cory tells Topanga of his bad dreams about getting married, she convinces him that his feelings of anxiety are normal, using their parents as examples. She says that a wedding hall has opened up on the fourth of July. Then, she adds that her parents are coming to visit to discuss the wedding. Cory immediately begins to freak out, making cards for his parents with pre-approved discussion topics. Things go way off topic, but Topanga's parents aren't getting along anyway. Jedidiah needs to take a walk outside, and Rhiannon can't seem to stop crying. As the tension reaches a peak, they announce that they're planning to get divorced. Jedidiah suggests that they may have gotten married too young, but Rhiannon insists that this has nothing to do with Cory and Topanga.
Meanwhile, Shawn and Eric have what they believe is their first talk ever. First, Shawn asks Eric what about Rachel it is that attracts him so much. All Eric can come up with is that she's pretty, and he realizes the error of his ways. Shawn says he found himself during his road trip, when he stared into the night sky. Eric says he'll find himself his own way. He meets Jack and Rachel and tells them they have his blessing. He tells them that he realized he was more interested in the competition than Rachel herself, and he's okay with what ended up happened. When Rachel hears of this competition, there is a sudden, uncomfortable silence.
Also, Mr. Feeny and Dean Bolander announce their plans to be married. They are going to get married at the Justice of the Peace, but Alan and Amy insist that they wed at their house. At the wedding, Alan and Amy sit all warmly together. Jedidiah and Rhiannon sit next to each other, but they shoot each other cold looks. Angela goes with Shawn, but she says it's only as friends. Nonetheless, Shawn ends up holding her in his arms. Topanga continually cries, prompting Cory to cancel their wedding plans when the hall calls to confirm them.
