Plot[]
Wanting his two best friends to be reunited, Shawn plans for Cory and Topanga to meet at Chubbie's to talk out their problems. Unfortunately, a surprise visit from Lauren sends Topanga away. Before she leaves, though, she says that if Cory thinks he needs to go out with her, he should to see how she feels.
Later on, Cory tells his parents of his plans with Lauren. They seem cautious, but supportive of the idea. Lauren enters, introducing herself and leaving with Cory. Sadly, Shawn admits that he likes her. Alan and Amy do as well.
On their date, Cory and Lauren discuss want they want from relationships. Cory begins to mention Topanga, then stops. Lauren says it is okay because she's an important part of his life. It begins to rain, and Cory looks for cover, but Lauren says she loves the rain, standing out in it. To protect Cory, she shoves his head inside her jacket, against her breast.
Cory shows up at Shawn's apartment sopping wet. He says he had fun, but doesn't know what to do. Shawn decides that they'll determine what to do by using jellybeans, and asks who makes him laugh more, who he can talk to about anything, and who he'd rather sleep with. Cory answers that both girls fit all three questions. Cory then places the entire bag on one side, saying he can live without Lauren, but he needs Topanga and it isn't even close. He rushes to meet her at Chubbie's to tell her the good news.
Topanga isn't as happy, though. She forgives Cory for talking to Lauren all night. She forgives him for kissing her. She even forgives him for lying about it all. But she cannot forgive him for needing to test his love for her. She walks out of Chubbie's, telling him that they can't see each other anymore. Upset, Cory stands and yells that she told him to see her. Topanga angrily replies, "And you listened". Shawn finds Topanga leaving and tries to cheer Cory up that things will be okay. But Cory sadly replies, "No it won't".
Meanwhile, Feeny asks Eric to proctor a citizenship test for some people who are applying. Eric immediately tells the class to rip up their tests and begins to play a game with cards. Although Feeny disapproves at first, he sees that Eric's card game really tests their knowledge of America. (For instance, the answer for King was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his "I Have a Dream" speech) The episodes closes with the students reciting the preamble to the constitution, and Eric realizing that for once, he realizes why people would want be teachers, because he feels proud knowing he made a difference in his student's lives.
